ABOUT

Our Challenge

In Los Angeles, over 600,000 children under the age of five face economic hardship, limiting their access to essential opportunities for growth and development.

Our Mission and Vision

Vista Village is committed to strengthening early childhood experiences by providing high-quality learning opportunities, fostering strong family bonds, and connecting families with vital community resources.

Our Impact

By creating supportive early learning environments, we empower children to thrive, ensuring they feel valued and supported. Our work lays a strong foundation for families, helping shape brighter futures for generations to come.

Our Legacy

Since 1973, Vista Village—formerly Home-SAFE—has been a pioneer in providing comprehensive support for families. Our innovative approach integrates family services, mental health resources, parent education, counseling, and early childhood care.

Today, our Hollywood-based organization continues to offer personalized, family-centered care to expectant mothers and families with young children, from Santa Monica to Eagle Rock. Through the support of our parent agency, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, and our collaboration with Early Head Start, we deliver four specialized programs designed to strengthen families and nurture child development:

Early Head Start Childcare Partnership

Early Head Start Home-Based Program

Childcare Services

Vista Autism Center

By focusing on early learning, family well-being, and strong community connections, Vista Village helps lay a foundation for lifelong success.

Our Team

Vista Village staff and childcare providers are supportive professionals who are passionate about enriching the lives of the children and families we serve. We are experts in working with infants and toddlers through a trauma sensitive approach that is grounded in brain development, infant mental health and best practices in early education.

Our Commitment to Community

We recognize the importance of understanding and valuing different perspectives. Our team brings a wide range of experiences to better serve the families in our care. We foster an environment of mutual respect, ensuring every family feels welcomed, supported, and heard.

Our Policy Council Members

Partner Advocate Lead

The Policy Council is a group of Vista Village, Early Head Start parents and community members who help lead and make decisions about their program. Policy Council members are elected by the parents of children enrolled in the program. Policy Council members help guide the program in planning and decision making to assure all program activities are relevant and supportive to their communities. Policy Council members keep Vista Village staff accountable, while learning important advocacy skills that serve them as parents and community members.

PROGRAMS

Early Head Start Childcare Partnership

Vista Village partners with family childcare providers to serve children 0-4 in small home settings. The family childcare providers are professionals in early childhood education and offer high quality learning experiences. They nurture children through meaningful interactions and provide safety and security. The home environments allow for children to explore freely, engage with nature, and develop curiosity. These meaningful interactions ignite the spark of creativity and prepare children to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners. The program fosters a home and school connection by providing monthly family visits to share information about child development and support the family’s overall wellbeing.

Early Head Start Home-Based

Vista Village offers support to families during pregnancy and through the first 3 years of a child’s life. Our team of home visitors are early childhood and mental health professionals with a passion for supporting families during these earliest years of life. Home visitors ensure that parents have the knowledge and skills to raise happy, healthy children. Our services are designed to support the most important relationship in a child’s life—the relationship between parents and their children. We offer this guidance through weekly home visits and parent-child groups (1-3 times per month). We believe that the best way to support a child is to support their whole family in meeting their goals and realizing their dreams.

Childcare

Our Childcare program combines childcare, child development and support services to income-eligible families. Childcare is provided through a network of State-licensed family childcare homes. The providers receive ongoing support and professional development. This enables low-income parents to work and attend school or job training programs, thereby supporting and enhancing parent/family self-sufficiency and self-esteem. The program promotes the growth and development of children by providing enriching, developmentally appropriate educational, play based activities as well as developmental assessments. Parents are encouraged to get involved in the program by serving on the Parent Advisory Committee and attending events.

Vista Autism Center

The Vista Autism Center offers therapeutic support for children, teens, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, as well as comprehensive support for their families. Rather than traditional behavior management, our unique approach builds deep emotional understanding as the basis to connect, share experiences, and bridge communication between neurodiverse individuals and the neurotypical world. Through a variety of individual and group psychotherapy programs, neurodiverse individuals can find a safe, supportive environment at the Vista Autism Center to grow and thrive.

Enhanced Care Management (ECM)

Enhanced Care Management (ECM) is a Medi-Cal managed care plan benefit that provides coordinated, whole-person support for children and families with complex needs. ECM is designed to meet families where they are. Many families navigate multiple systems—medical, behavioral health, school, and community resources—and ECM helps bridge those gaps by building trusted relationships and aligning care with each child’s needs, strengths, and goals. We are contracted with Kaiser Permanente, Health Net, Blue Shield Promise, Anthem Blue Cross, LA Care and Molina. Overall, ECM helps make care more connected, supportive, and easier for families to navigate.
